Thescorre Business Meeting, Jan. 17, 2005

Steffan presiding, 16 Thescorreans present

Bryn, speaking for an absent Daedra, asked Their Excellencies if the Barony wanted Moritu to fight for us again at Pennsic. Cedric said yes, and he'll call Daedra to discuss terms

Steffan announced that next month's meeting is Curia, and reminded that all officers need to submit reports at or before the meeting. He also noted that the deadline to propose changes to Baronial policies is tonight. (Sorry for the short notice/reminder!)

Cedric asked that all reports be poetic; “That wasn't a proposal to change our policies, right?” Katja asked. (Yipes, it's weird when I quote myself in the third person...)

College of Three Ravens
Peregrine offered to collect reservations for the event, and sent around sign-up sheets for tollner, hall set up, and clean up. We have access to the site on Friday night, and volunteers for setting up the
event will be greatly appreciated. HRH Tessa will attend.

Lavena noted that a friend of hers from the EastRealm is encouraging East merchants to come to the event; so far three are coming and we could have as many as 13, she said.

Khalek asked whether fighting and fencing will be allowed, and Peregrine said she's working on the insurance form. Katja suggested calling the AE ombudsman if the employees at Milpitas aren't responding quickly to the request for an insurance rider.

Matilda plans to run a Heraldic table at the event.

Honnoria has four empty slots for classes, Bryn noted, and would like them filled by Thescorreans if at all possible. Please contact her (by email) if you want to teach. Lavena added that we have seven tracts of classes scheduled for C3R, for a total of 38 overall.

Branwyn offered to teach a newcomers class, and asked if anyone would co-teach it with her? Bryn suggested asking Devon.

Peregrine added that “We may need cookies in Court” and asked if the Cooks Guild could do any? She'll bake them herself if there's no time.

Officer Reports
We have two demos coming up, Branwyn reminded: the first is a Saturday in March at the Webster School. It's a demo for mixed adults and children with us demonstrating stuff and answering questions. We need
as many people as possible to participate: fencers, fighters, dancers, people to answer questions.

The other one is Thursday in February at Grace Covenant School for the entire student body (30 kids). This will be an ADEPT demo, so anyone wanting to participate should familiarize themselves with the ADEPT demo setup on our webpage.

We may also do a recruitment demo for the crusader movie Kingdom of Heaven.

We need an MOL, Steffan reminded.

Alina: We have $2,619 in savings and $1,054 in checking. Although she completed the annual report last month, the kingdom exchequer's accounting doesn't match hers (it's off by roughly $178.) She said she will review the report line by line, and if hers is still correct, she doesn't know what to do. Lavena suggested that the discrepancy might be from the $400 we gave the kingdom from Fall Crown; they had been expecting $600.

It's tax season, Alina added, so she's very busy at work. If anyone needs to contact her, it's best to do so at her work. She plans to attend the the business meetings, C3R, and Ice Dragon.

Yasmina is scheduled for surgery, so Grendel will run fencing for the next two months. She added that she plans to ask the Barony for money for larger ghost jackets.

Archery continues on Sundays at Jim's Pro Shop, Cedric reported.

“I need submissions. If you have art, articles, whatever, send it to me,” said Eldjarn.

Heavy fighting fills this room every Monday, Khalek said, and we started youth fighting last week. We'll have that every other week. We'll be doing a demo here in March. Branwyn added that we'll need folks in garb.

Guilds and Practices
The Threadworkers met on Sunday, Matilda said, for a lovely dinner and an interesting discussion on hats and hoods. (Thanks Carlo and Juliana for hosting the meeting.)The next meeting is Monday, Feb. 21 at my house. We have some suggestions for upcoming topics (drop spindles, lucet, nalbinding, gnarl weaving) and need folks to host the meetings. We'll do garb finishing before Pennsic.

Carlo beseeched drummers and dancers to come to Middle Eastern practice tomorrow night. “While they wiggle, we play.”

Cooks Guild met last week at Khazi and Caradawc's to make pizzelles for C3R, Bryn said. Katja added that the guild will meet Saturday from 11 to whenever to make stuff for upcoming feasts and vigils. She noted that Khazi and Dubheasa's menu was great, and there was a run-through of the whole menu last Saturday at Lavena's.

“It's seven months to Pennsic!” Mick announced.

“You are free to move about the hall, Steffan said, ending the meeting. Folks talked for an additional 15 minutes or so, mostly about how to get the camel out of Grendel's basement.
