An early member of the Barbary Corsairs, Wassouf the merchant lost everything when the plague struck Florence, Italy in the mid 1450s. Wassouf had lived in luxury all his life, and sought a quick return to wealth by using his remaining resources to fund smugglers, raiders, and pirates. He currently is based out of Tripoli, and regularly joins with other ships to raid English, French, and Itallian shipping along the Barbary Coast. Having been a merchant on the land and the sea, he knows precisely where to strike, and has of late become moderately wealthy again.
